Europa Universalis II

If there is a game that is certainly worth talking about, it is Europa Universalis II. Most people were surprised to see this game released so quickly, especially taking into account that the original game was only released a few months before hand. That being said, for those that loved the original, this is going to blow them away. The graphics are higher quality, the story line much better, yet the game is much easier to understand as well, so in all aspects, this is much better than before.

Of course, it is the depth of the game that really helps people to get involved with this game. Many games that are simple to understand will also be simple when it comes to the game play. This means that within a few hours of game play, players can feel like they have done everything there is to do and therefore the game gets boring. With around 700 territories and 60 nations, there is little chance of a new player getting bored quickly!

Heroes of Might & Magic V

Heroes of Might & Magic V is a strategy game that has managed to increase in popularity quickly thanks to the fact that it is of a line long of sequels. Over the years that this game has been available, the quality of the fan base has continued to increase, as has the game play and the features that are incorporated here. The graphics are among one of the things that has continued to improve time after time.

Although Heroes of Might & Magic V is extremely popular, not everything about it is necessarily good. In reality, Heroes of Might & Magic V is very simplistic when it comes to the multiplayer game play and this is something that certainly needs work. Of course, those that really know how to work this game will be able to develop their game play to a point where they are able to obtain new maps and treasures.

Poker TH

I've been on the look-out for a free poker client for ages and finally, I seem to have found a really good one. Let me introduce you PokerTH. It's not your typical computer game. Firstly, it's free! Secondly, you can play vs the AI or against real opponents in online games. So far so good.

After trying it out I must say I'm pleased with the overall gaming experience. The sounds are nice, the game doesn't lag and the graphics - well, aren't that great, but they do the job. The most important thing - the poker game itself - is great. It's especially useful poker players who've just had a look at the beginners tips and want to get some practice. Actually, the only free poker game so far that I've liked is Governor of Poker (you can play it here). So, Pokerth is my second.

Another thing Poker TH excels at is cross-platform availability. It's available for the Windows PC (of course), Linux, MacOS and just recently, also for Android.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

When it comes to action games that have managed to stand the test of time, very few will live up to the legendry Tomb Raider. Tomb Raider is already ten years old and to celebrate the success, the developers have released their Tomb Raider: Anniversary edition, which is set to be the biggest and best one to date. Most people might have thought that this was the year to stop, but this is certainly an action game which will attract a whole new range of players.

Of course, it is the constant innovation of the gaming developers that has managed to keep Tomb Raider alive all these years. The game has been so iconic that there have been sequels, movies and even books that relate to it. For this reason, why stop there? Tomb Raider: Anniversary is full of new features, weapons and characters, not to mention a great range of different missions to get involved with throughout.

Sim City 2000

I started playing it again. Couldn't help myself. Sim City 2000 is the mother of all city management simulation games. You're in charge of an entire city. You decide, you plan, you build, you demolish. Basically, you're God.

The isometric view of the game was a stroke of a genius. Whoever came up with that should be awarded a Nobel prize. The game just sucks you into it, it's hard to fight one's way back into the real life. It took me a week last time. Now I'm at it again.

You need DOSBOX to run it in newer computers (I've Win 7). Or you can buy the special edition from GOG for $5.99. It has updated graphics and works on Win 7.
